December 2012 T1 …The Xmas Trip

Design your own trip and mix up your Christmas present with your friends. Kite, party on board, party on land.

January/February (T2 – T5)

In 2011/12 we spent many months on Antigua & Barbuda. Not everyone got a chance to kite this superb location last year so it’s on the menu once again, providing us with a wonderful excuse to go back  - we can’t wait!  The highlight for many is exploring the remote island of Barbuda – for kiting it’s truly one of the most exquisite and wonderful islands we’ve discovered so far. On Barbuda, there’s a choice of 3 spots plus various opportunities for downwinders. The second part of the trip will take place on Antigua. We won’t miss Green Island, a true flatwater paradise. There’s also the possibility of exploring the countless islands just northeast of Antigua for some off-the-beaten track kite exploring. This trip begins and ends in Antigua – either Falmouth or Jolly Harbour.

East Coast of Martinique

April/May (T8-T11)

The Martinique experience is a new adventure for us at Zenith. This island is rather unusual by Caribbean standards because it is actually possible (on a catamaran only!) to sail its windward side. That’s where we’ll head. The windward anchorages are protected by reefs – so the plan is to drop the anchor, rig up the kites and enter freestyle heaven. In 1 week we will cover  up to 5 spots. This trip is all about unexpected surprises. Pick-up and drop-off for the 1-week trips is either at Le Marin, Martinique or Rodney Bay, St Lucia.

St Vincent and The Grenadines

June (T12-13)

In our first year, the Grenadines trips were an absolute success, so we thought we’d do it again. Rugged and versatile, the Grenadines remain the Captain’s all-round favourite. They are ideal for exploring on a catamaran as we can anchor in very shallow water. There are a number of kiting locations and they’re never more than an hour’s sailing away. There’s Union Island, where we have a choice of kiting around the Happy Island bar in Clifton while Janti hands us rhum punches, in the butter-flat lagoon at Frigate Island, or at the wavespot just off Palm Island. We’ll obviously head to the Tobago Cays: a vast expanse of flat blue-green water dotted with little islands and inhabited by turtles, within  Horseshoe Reef. Beyond the reef – waves to our heart’s content. From there we’ll downwind to Salt Whistle Bay on Mayreau through the gorgeous coral of Mayreau Gardens… We also have the option of kiting the cute little isle of Mopion along with the lagoon in front of Petit St Vincent. We are flexible in terms of pick-up and drop-off points: this trip can start/end either in St Lucia, Union Island, Canouan, Carriacou, or Grenada. Pick-up and drop-off can be different if that suits you better.

July T14     The MEGA EXPEDITION

The MEGA EXPEDITION is a 450NM downwind sail from the Grenadines to Curacao passing through Los Roques and Las Aves, and klein C
